As climate change impacts worsen, it is urgent to build climate resilience and reduce vulnerability to protect communities, ecosystems, and economies.
Though nearly all countries have a national adaptation plan (NAP) process underway, shifting from planning to implementation remains a significant challenge. Accelerating this transition requires strengthening institutions, mobilizing resources, and engaging partners to deliver country-owned adaptation priorities.
This 3-day peer learning event convened government representatives from Ghana, Kenya, the Netherlands, and South Africa in the Ghanaian capital to discuss how to accelerate the transition from planning to implementation in the NAP process. It is the second in-person event in a peer learning series focused on this theme.
Co-organized by the Government of Ghana, the four-country peer learning event allowed participants to
- deepen their understanding of how to strengthen the enabling factors for the transition from planning to implementation of national adaptation priorities;
- share good practices and lessons on developing projects and programs in a timely, coordinated, and efficient manner to address national adaptation priorities; and
- highlight gaps and needs for ongoing support for the transition from planning to implementation in the NAP process.
